I’ve always been fascinated by the work of Peter Paul Rubens, always pulling off this fleshy living feeling to just pigment on canvas. A lot of his secret is a vibrant red, that pulsing blood right under the surface, contrasted with areas of fat pushed up against the skin. I’ve created these images of shapes as a study in composition of that idea.
